The Nokia X86 is one of Nokia’s most recent releases and also one of their most expensive as its RRP is £319.99. But it does have lots of features for the money you pay for it. Nokia advertise the Nokia X86 as an ‘all in one’ device and this is correct. The Nokia X86 has everything you could possibly want from a phone all in one package. The Nokia X86 has an 8MP camera which wipes the floor with the competition in mobile camera phones which are usually around 5MP for a phone of the Nokia X86’s standard. The Nokia X86 is a mini media centre and as with lots of Nokia’s web phones, can be described as a mini netbook. It has everything apart from office features (some Nokia phones have office features but the Nokia X86 doesn’t).
Features of the X86
· 8MP Camera. Nokia have been adding Carl Ziess technology to their camera phones.
· GPS. As with all smart phones today the Nokia X86 has GPS built in and works with Ovi Maps.
· Wi-Fi. The Nokia X86 is a web based phone so it has a strong Wi-Fi connection.
· Memory. The Nokia X86 has 8GB of inbuilt memory which can be expanded to up to 16GB if needed.
· Video Capture. The Nokia X86’s 8MP camera also captures video in the same high quality in which it takes pictures.
· MP3 Player. The Nokia X86 has a built in media centre which allows the user to build up an extensive music collection and multiple playlists. The Nokia X86’s huge memory also means that you can store many tracks.
Good Points of the Nokia X86
· Memory is expandable. The Memory of the Nokia X86 is 8GB built in and can be extended by up to 16GB. Users have reported this as one of the Nokia X86’s best features as it means they can use the Nokia X86 as a storage device as well as a phone/email device.
· Protection. The external shell of the Nokia X86 is scratch resistant and the screen is made of a special hardened glass. So even if the phone is dropped there won’t be too much damage. The Nokia X86 also comes with a kick stand so you can stand the phone upright.
· 8GB Camera. The camera featured on the Nokia X86 has a massive 8MP camera which is twice the power of most cameras features in phones. Users have reported that the 8MP camera takes very high quality pictures and is like an external camera just rolled into a phone.
Bad Points of the Nokia X86
· Two Way Slide. The slide function on the Nokia X86 has caused some consumers problems in that it tends to get stuck. However this seems to have been only a few isolated incidents and there aren’t any lasting problems with the Nokia X86.
· Complicated Camera. Because the camera on the Nokia X86 is so powerful it comes with a lot of editing tools and some users have found this very confusing.
